The First Day at Home...

Home sweet home. My sweet mother had cleaned the house from top to bottom, and it sparkled when stepped through the door. She and Katie decorated Maggie's "Recovery Room" and Maggie loved it. We moved Maggie's room downstairs, right next to ours. She and Katie have shared a room since they were babes, so Katie is missing her sister's silly noises and conversations as they drift off to sleep. But Maggie will be upstairs again before long!

Today was generally a good day. She had a few visitors, which she loved, but she easily tires. She continues to battle nausea and headaches. The pattern continues - good hours and bad hours, but improvement overall. When I think about what she looked like a week ago in the PICU, I am amazed and thankful to God for the miracle of healing.

It is strange to feel like the world is going on around us, and we are hunkered down, not participating much. Especially hard for me and Maggie, the super-extroverts, who love to be right in the thick of life. But this is a unique season, and we're going to enjoy it. Maggie's recovery is going well, and it won't be long until we are both living our "regular" lives again.

Grateful for all of you!

  2. So glad she's home! It's hard to really rest in the hospital. We're still praying for Maggie's recovery. Try ginger snaps (great dunked in tea!) Good for the belly and bonus, they are cookies!

  3. Yes, get as much ginger in her as you can, it is well known for treating nausea, you can get ginger capsules at a GNC or similar store and put it in applesauce or any other food. Ginger tea too. Love you guys, Jen

  4. Shelley, I discovered your blog today through a mutual friend and, therefore, just became aware of your family's journey over this past month. Please know that I will be praying for your precious daughter and entire family. Even though we have not had the opportunity to see one another as much over the past few years, you remain as dear to my heart as ever.... please don't hesitate to let us know if there is any way Isaac and I can be of the least bit of assistance during this time. With much love, Kelly H
